I'm Jillian. I'm a Boston-based photographer with a passion for capturing the beauty of the world around me. I'm constantly on the hunt for new locations that take my breath away and make my heart skip a beat. Many of my images have an intentional soft or selective focus and rustic texture for a dreamy, painterly, and vintage feel. I am committed to using the highest quality archival inks and papers so you can cherish your print for many years to come.
It really all began half of my lifetime ago. I was 16 when I was handed my first SLR film camera. I was immediately in love. I took a 2-week summer course in darkroom photography at a local college and was hooked. (Some of the first photographs I ever developed included my mud-splattered TrailBlazer and golden retriever, Princess Bailey.)
Since then, I've taken a wide variety of photography courses and workshops including darkroom, digital, commercial and alternative processes.
I've traveled around the world, trekked down streets and beaches, hiked along the coast and explored abandoned buildings.
I think every picture holds a story... my goal is to share that story. I'm most drawn to old and abandoned places that hold deep, rich history. Whether it is an abandoned farmhouse or a crumbling factory, I am fascinated with the way that nature reclaims her space as man-made structures fall into disrepair.
ABOUT MY PRINTING
All photographs are printed on luster photographic paper (it has a soft pearly finish that is a cross between a traditional glossy print and a matte print) with archival inks. Prints up to 12x18 size are printed with a small white border for easy matting and framing. All prints larger than 12x18 are printed borderless.
ABOUT URBAN EXPLORATION Visiting abandoned buildings and old places can be an awesome experience, but it can also be dangerous. I highly encourage you to seek permission from building owners (as I have done) before entering any abandoned building or facility. Any illegal exploration is done at your own risk and I don't recommend it! Many building owners will be happy to welcome in photographers who seek permission for photographic exploration, it's best for both you and them, so please exercise caution.
All photographs are printed on the highest quality luster photographic paper with archival inks so you can cherish your photograph for many years to come. 5x7 and 8x10 photographs can be matted in white acid-free mat board.
All photographs fit a standard-sized frame which you can find at your local craft or home decor store.
All prints are safely shipped in glassine sleeves with backing board in sturdy mailers to protect against bending.
